What A Difference A Day Makes!

By Kathy Graveley, Director of Development

"Heartfelt thanks to 33 donors who generously contributed $10,420 (plus our portion of the incentive fund) to Excelsior Youth Center during Colorado Gives Day," said Joan Gabrielson, Excelsior's Executive Director. "This is our first year to participate and we're thrilled with the results. Excelsior made some new friends through this program as well as receiving generous gifts from some of our loyal donors and Board members."

"Despite some website glitches, donors were determined to make their gifts - lots of gifts! More than 52,000 donations flooded GivingFirst.org to the tune of $12 million," said Marla J. Williams, president and CEO of Community First Foundation. "That's an increase of 150 percent over last year's 20,000 donations."

What a fun day it was at Excelsior. Every time an email popped up with another new donation… it felt like bells ringing that declared 'an angel got their wings!'

Williams continued: "In the months leading up to Colorado Gives Day, we've been awed by the current of energy building in Colorado. In the last few weeks, who could go a day-an hour--without hearing something about December 6?

And, of course, thank you to the boards and staffs of nearly 1,000 nonprofits who dedicated their energy and creative ideas to make sure Colorado Gives Day was a stunning success. Thank you Colorado!"

Excelsior will use the funds to support the treatment of some of Colorado's most troubled teenaged girls. THANK YOU!
